The Sacred Mission of the Shipibo Maestras: A Healing Bridge Between Worlds
Deep in the Amazon Rainforest, where the jungle pulses with life and the rivers whisper ancient stories, there exists a lineage of wisdom keepers—the Shipibo Maestras. Women of great strength and vision, they are the caretakers of sacred songs, plant medicines, and an unbroken ancestral tradition of healing.
Deep in the Amazon Rainforest, Where Ancient Wisdom Breathes
Now, for the first time in history, two highly respected Maestras—Mama Amelia and Mama Celestina—are leaving the Amazon, carrying with them the wisdom of their ancestors. Their destination? Finland—a land of deep forests, pure waters, and an ancient spiritual connection waiting to be rekindled.
This is no ordinary visit. It is a calling. A rare and sacred moment where the wisdom of the Amazon meets the wisdom of the North.
The Shipibo: Guardians of Sacred Knowledge
The Shipibo-Conibo people are one of the most spiritually advanced Indigenous nations of the Amazon, known for their intricate healing traditions, geometric art, and Ikaros—sacred songs that weave reality itself. Their traditions are rooted in the understanding that all life is interconnected, and true healing happens not just at the level of the body, but also at the level of spirit, energy, and ancestral memory.
For thousands of years, the Maestras have worked as midwives between worlds, guiding people through deep healing, purification, and spiritual awakening using sacred plants like Ayahuasca and Mapacho (Amazonian tobacco), as well as ceremonies of fire, water, and song.
But their homeland is under threat.
The Amazon, the lungs of the Earth, is suffering. Illegal logging, mining, and deforestation are stripping away not only trees but entire ecosystems of wisdom and spirit. As the jungle suffers, so too does its knowledge—unless it is carried forward.
And so, the Maestras have been called to share their medicine beyond the rainforest, bringing their healing traditions to a world that desperately needs them.
A Journey of Risk and Great Purpose
For the Maestras, leaving their jungle home is not simply a matter of distance—it is a spiritual and physical challenge unlike any they have ever faced.
Their bodies, finely attuned to the pure energy of the rainforest, must now adapt to modern city life—polluted air, processed foods, and the dense electromagnetic fields of technology. The vibration of the Western world is fast, restless, and disconnected from nature, a stark contrast to the slow, harmonious rhythm of the jungle.
There is also the risk of spiritual displacement. In their culture, everything—every tree, every river, every animal—has spirit. To step into a world where this understanding is forgotten is a challenge of great strength and resilience.
And yet, they have chosen to come. Not for themselves, but for the greater mission of planetary healing.
The Sacred Ceremonies: Plant Medicines, Fire, Water & Healing of the Children of Earth
Their arrival in Finland is a moment of profound synchronicity. Just as the Amazonian jungle is under threat, so too are the sacred lands of the North, where ignorance and forgetfulness have nearly erased the spiritual traditions of the Nordic peoples.
The forests, the waters, and the ancient wisdom of the North still whisper, but they need voices to listen and answer.
This is why the Maestras have come—to share the Medicine.
They bring teachings of purification and the fine-tuning of the sensual, emotional, and mental bodies through:
🌀The Ikaros, Geometric Body paintings & Sacred Healing Songs →
These are not just songs; they are sacred codes woven into sound. They realign energy, cleanse trauma, and awaken dormant wisdom. Each note carries the spirit of the Amazon, now bridging to the North.
Energy Cleansing: Sacred Mapacho smoke, sacred chants, and ritual offerings, participants have the opportunity to release old imprints carried from the womb and beyond.
🔥The Sacred Fire Ceremony →
Fire is the force of transformation, renewal, and rebirth. Just as excessive fire brings destruction to humanity and the Amazon Rainforest, it is also a source of protection, shelter, and spiritual cleansing. Fire continues to play an essential role in the Nordic lands, seen in the sauna, the hearth, and the ritual flame of ancient traditions.
💧 The Sacred Water Ceremony →
Water holds memory, cleansing, and life itself. The Amazon River and the Nordic lakes both carry the wisdom of the land. The Maestras will prepare a flower-infused blessing water, bathing participants as they sing the Ikaros, washing away burdens and restoring clarity.
Healing the Daughters of Earth
The Maestras’ mission is clear: To heal the children of Earth, to transform the collective consciousness, and to contribute to healing the planet.
In every woman lies an ancient knowing, a force of creation, intuition, and deep wisdom.
Many of the wounds we carry did not begin with us. They are imprints from the time we were in our mother’s wombs, passed down from our grandmothers and ancestors—energetic memories stored in our bodies, passed down through generations. The Maestras’ work reaches into these ancestral lines, clearing old pain not only for us but for those who came before and those yet to come.
But this is not only about women. The feminine and masculine are not separate—they are two parts of a whole. As we heal the feminine, we also restore balance with the masculine, creating unity, not division.
🌿 This healing is a ripple effect—touching daughters, granddaughters, grandmothers, but also sons, fathers, and grandfathers. The Earth, the times we are living in, and cosmic alignments are calling for this restoration of harmony.
Honoring Mama Selmira: The Inspiration Behind This Sacred Gathering
In 2021, the seeds of this sacred collaboration were planted when Pachamama School Organisation had the honor of welcoming Mama Selmira, a revered Shipibo healer, to Finland. Known as “The Amazonian Mother Healer,” Mama Selmira was a rare wisdom keeper—one of the last of the enigmatic Astral Travelers, a group of Shipibo elders deeply connected to the spirit world and the healing forces of Mother Jungle.
Her arrival was a moment of prophecy fulfilled. For over 60 years, she had awaited the guidance of her spirit allies, knowing that when the time was right, she would be called to share her knowledge beyond the Amazon. When that moment came, she journeyed across the world, bringing with her the ancient ceremonial use of Mapacho (wild Amazonian tobacco), the sacred Ikaros healing songs, and the art of energetic body painting—a ritual she had practiced since childhood.
Mama Selmira’s Legacy & the Birth of a New Collaboration
During her time in Finland, Mama Selmira’s presence was transformative. She carried the wisdom of the jungle, the stars, and the unseen realms, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. Through her healing ceremonies, she reminded us that true medicine is not only of the body but of the soul, lineage, and cosmic energy field.
Her profound connection to the Earth, her mastery of the sacred Amazon Pipe, and her ability to channel deep curative energies awakened something powerful in us—a call to continue this sacred work, to deepen the bridge between the Amazon and the Nordic lands.
Her passing in 2021 was a great loss, but also a transition into the spiritual realm where her wisdom lives on, guiding us from beyond. Her presence remains with us, woven into the fabric of this mission.

Bringing the Maestras to Finland: A Continuation of the Vision
It was through Mama Selmira that we came to understand the importance of bringing Shipibo Maestras to Finland—not just once, but as part of an ongoing collaboration.
Now, in 2025, we are honored to continue her legacy by welcoming Mama Amelia and Mama Celestina, two highly respected Shipibo medicine women, who will carry forward this sacred transmission. Their arrival is a continuation of the wisdom she planted, a direct response to the call for healing, ancestral restoration, and the balance of the masculine and feminine energies.
Just as Mama Selmira came with the blessings of her ancestors, Mama Amelia and Mama Celestina now step forward, carrying the same prayers, the same healing songs, and the same deep connection to the natural world.
This is not just an event—it is a sacred lineage being passed on, a continuation of a prophecy, a bridge between worlds that must remain open.
